MEOW MEOW!
It's been four years since we announced the sale of Graphics Cat to The Sourcing Group. Our contract is up and we are back in business with our original familiar business name! We're BAAAAAACK.
Here's what happened in the past four years. I, Michelle Valdes transitioned to The Sourcing Group for the first six months on contract with my favorite former boss Mike Pisenti. It was a smooth transition handing over my valuable customers to the good hands of a larger company with vast more resources. I was confident they were in good hands.
After my six months was up I was off on a world wide tour of our beautiful planet along side my dear daddy. He was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer and it was my mission to find a cure. I soon discovered that while I was taught there was nothing I can't do, there are some things out of my control. I may not be able to find a cure but I can do other things. I became the Chair for Purple Stride Silicon Valley and organized annual walks to raise money into more research. I also pounded the pavement of Capital Hill alongside daddy and PanCan (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network) asking our government to put more money into more research of finding a cure for the most deadly disease. Our goal was to double the survival rate from 5% at the time of his diagnosis to 10%. I am proud to say that while dad was in hospice we learned we had achieved the goal we set out to do. He peacefully passed knowing he achieved a major milestone, not for him but for all diagnosed with this deadly disease. Not only did he go to Capital Hill with me but he also did three clinical trials, endured radiation, three different chemo treatments all the while knowing his demise. He didn't do it to survive but to help progress survival rates for all diagnosed. I'm so proud of him. He pass summer of 2019.
My dad was very proud of me having my business and we were fortunate to be able to spend the time together, travel the world and check off his bucket list. It has been two years of grieving and although I will never truly be over it, it is now time to get back to the life laid out in front of me. As father time would have it, my contract with The Sourcing Group is now up and I am free to have my business name back and start anew.
So here we are, starting anew in 2022. Has a nice ring don't you think. I am staring over, stronger, wiser, and with someone watching over me encouraging me along the way.
